ok, I see what you're saying about genetic memories. That doesn't answer my question about whether or not past lives are real - especially in the case of personal recollections.
Hypothetical situation: let's say I remember a particular past life event. I'm asking if that actually happened to my soul, or is that a memory of some distant ancestor which I've inherited? If both are possible, how does one know the difference?
