Fellow lefty here. I can no longer stomach John Oliver or Stephen Colbert or any of the other late night or MSNBC hosts I watched religiously ever day for years until the DNC and corporate media shafted Bernie in the primary and the DNC leaks confirmed how fucked up the situation was/is. I've always held WikiLeaks in high regard because of their exposing corruption mission and 100% track record for authentic leaks. I know two years ago in this situation I would've been posting on Facebook like crazy about how racist every single one of Trump's supporters are. Now I find myself posting about elite corruption, the military industrial complex, and the horrifying surveillance state. Not a complete 180, but I'm definitely focused less on racism/sexism and more on corruption at the highest levels.
The closest I've gotten to red-pilling people seems to be talking about things not DIRECTLY related to pizzagate, especially things that are demonstrably factual--horrors like MK Ultra, Cointelpro, the Tuskegee Syphilis Experiments, Project Mockingbird, the threatening letter to MLK, LSD experimentation on unaware test subjects. Once people learn about the government atrocities that are documented by "trusted" media sources, they seem a lot more open to the possibilities that horrors exist that broader society doesn't know about--yet.
I definitely find myself talking more productively and comfortably now with independents and libertarians than other progressives and especially Democrats. But I still believe systemic racism is a problem, single payer health care is the best health care solution, we need to regulate environmental abuses by corporations, and Wall Street should have drastically less power over the government. But you're definitely not alone with the feelings of identity crisis. For me it's been tough but ultimately positive personal growth. You'll come out of this and not feel like your world is upside down and underwater.
My last post was about how I used to argue that I never feared Muslims because I thought the left would be just as hard on them as Christians and now we have the left outraged about Christians and birth control but Muslims get a pass on a few of them running over and stabbing. I will have to wait a long time but the next Christian killer I am going to post that Christians are peaceful. Speaking of that what is westboro baptist church up to these days?
Kansas native. They were our...but we are nice people shame. Someone painted a rainbow house nearby. I think it was targeted a couple of times but not as much as they wanted.
