I'm inclined to think this was a shot across the bow to Comey...that he needs to focus on Clinton and not this Russia nonsense. If the Russians didn't change votes at the voting machine or give the DNC, Clinton or Podesta emails to Wikileaks...what exactly are they investigating? And why does Comey still have a job?
I'd argue that the Russia/Trump investigation is the next logical step. It's the ONLY good card the CIA has against Trump. The investigation I'm sure will conclude that all Russian ties are a misdirection. Then they'll only have the shitty tax thing. That gets disproved and nothing is left to misdirect to. But at that point things might go 1 of 2 ways. 1: It gets dangerous for main people in the Trump team as it's CIA's backs against the wall. Or 2: The cards are laid out on the table and the Pizza cabale is getting solved. With many people taking a fall.
