"99.8% of the children who go missing do come home. Nearly 90% of missing children have simply misunderstood directions or miscommunicated their plans, are lost, or have run away. 9% are kidnapped by a family member in a custody dispute. 3% are abducted by non-family members, usually during the commission of a crime such as robbery or sexual assault. The kidnapper is often someone the child knows. Only about 100 children (a fraction of 1%) are kidnapped each year in the stereotypical stranger abductions you hear about in the news. Every ten years or so the US Department of Justice conducts a study of missing child cases in the United States. The most recent, NISMART II, was published in October 2003."

Whether true or not, and it is dubious, who cares about the distinction of "stranger abduction" if the reality is that many of these sick cases involve a relative. The mission of such an organization should be to expose the risks and threats, including if they involve abductions by family.

I agree that it's important to expose all kidnappings however I think the natural instinct is to fear predator abductions from strangers because most people would know a few places to start looking if it was a family member, and you would be able to ID them, whereas with a stranger abduction you're almost guaranteed to never see your child again. I'm scared of stranger abductions myself, and I do not send my younger kids to any type of daycare so you'd pretty much have to grab them from my arms or break in in the middle of the night or kidnap them from school.
