Not an army of pedophiles, but rather a ton of people that hate Trey Gowdy so much and so blindly that they'd downvote him investigating child abuse.

An interesting question. Which i would like to know the answer to aswell.

From what I've seen of him, he seems like an unusually honest politician who specializes in giving severe grillings to government employees who screw up or otherwise rort the system. Not exactly something that would normally attract scorn from the general populous
