BBC has a horrible record of how they've dealt with pedophilia, and obviously this doesn't help. HOWEVER... the industry likes ratings and possibly his producers were egging him on, so I wouldn't personally blame the host. I also wouldn't go immediately to "BBC is normalizing pedophilia" especially since they apologized for it. If they were pushing pedophilia, they would have come out with some BS statement about how everyone's views were important, etc.

Alternatively, it's not unusual to be shocked in a situation like that and freeze up (hosts/producer/whoever was responsible for letting this continue), It's like when I was a teller in a bank robbery - the reality did not match how I thought I'd deal with the situation in my head.

P.S. - Dangerous fan? :)

The analogy that comes to mind is the frog in the pot of water. By slowly and perniciously exposing us to the concept of paedophilia being a mental disorder rather than a crime (warm water) by the time society has been conditioned and mollified into acceptance of this sickness, it'll be regarded as normal (frog in the pot of boiling water is cooked!)

I understand that and I agree, which is why I find that type of exploration of pedophilia disgusting. However, according to the articles I've read, they never implied they were listening to say he's just demented etc. it was a production error.
