Why do you think it's Gomez?

He is the only Chief of the NYPD and was at the time of statement. Various reddit discussions also track him as the Chief. So the question about the first petition being inaccurate about the Commissioner vs. Chief allowed for drilling down and more accuracy. Thanks.

This is not true. Gomez is Chief of Department, the highest Chief, but not the only one 15 people hold the rank of Chief.

My larger point is this based on a completely fake article from an untrustworthy site. Folks have built it into some giant Holy Grail and all evidence points otherwise.

Here is a real article on the Weiner Case from the Wall Street Journal. You can see that the lawyers are negotiating a small scale case. I believe this article includes prosecution sources because they highlight the most serious charge being considered against Weiner and that this article is was being used to embarrass and pressure Weiner to agree to a plea. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2017/01/31/prosecutors-weigh-child-pornography-charges-against-anthony-weiner.html

In recent weeks, according to some of the people familiar with the matter, attorneys for Mr. Weiner have had discussions with federal prosecutors in Manhattan in hopes of dissuading them from bringing charges, or at least from bringing the most serious one: production of child pornography, which carries a 15-year mandatory minimum prison sentence upon conviction.

These types of discussions can indicate both sides are trying to reach an agreement in which the defendant pleads guilty in exchange for a less-severe charge.

Look at the last sentence of the article

Prosecutors could decide not to bring any charges.

This doesn't seem to be the beginning of some massive takedown. This seems aimed at one guy. The girl's family is not cooperating with prosecutors by the way and has never filed a police report. Why do you think that is?

thanks for this. I remember watching the video of the press conference of this statement, it did occur. However, that video is now somehow not available anywhere anymore. I was basically just helping out awarenessadventurer who quit yesterday, it was her petition. She had further support arguments about it which she put on her post in comments, but was generally scattered and couldn't keep it together to make a cogent argument which is unfortunate.
