I wouldn't be so sure of that. Used to think so myself but one of them literally confessed that he had seen Echols rape and kill them. Of course people think it's a false confession but the way that celebs like Vedder and Depp became involved, and the way that Mark Byers changed his tune so abruptly about them, doing a complete 180 from saying they were guilty to fighting for their innocence, is all suspect.
It still leaves the question of who did it, anyway, and what their motive was.
The one that confessed had a subnormal IQ and was under the impression that if he said what the cops wanted him to say, they'd let him go home.
The cops literally spoon-fed him what to say, even correcting him when he told them that Damien stabbed the kids when there were no stab wounds. He was totally coached.
Echols a douchebag that's certain, but I'm convinced he didn't kill them, and even if he did, there's not enough evidence to convict them in a real court where none of the jury have webbed fingers and are all called Cletus.
I'll grant you that the Byers thing was fucking weird. He never came across as genuine at any time though.
The thing about Jessie Missekelly is that he confessed on multiple occasions both before and after their conviction. One of the main confessions where he talks about witnessing the kids being tortured and killed, I know people say he was coerced, but if you listen to the interviews there is no evidence of him being coerced or coached what to say. I'm not saying he wasn't, but I'm saying I had also always thought that but could find no actual proof of it.
This is actually a big coincidence because after I made this comment here, someone brought the case up at work yesterday (I'm like the "conspiracy guy") so I spent some time yesterday looking back over some WM3 stuff since I haven't really paid attention to it in a while. Well, there was an interview I had never seen before, it's actually a transcript with audio, but they're interviewing some other kid who was friends with Jessie who went to his house the day after the killings, I think before the bodies had been found, and said Jessie was behaving erratically, said he had got into a fight or hurt some kids the night before, started crying and sweating, and gave him a pair of used shoes as if he was trying to get rid of them.
Like I said, when I was first introduced to the case it was in a college class where the professor showed us the movie Paradise Lost which is obviously biased in favor of their innocence, so I had always been of the mind that they didn't do it and all that. But I have to say now, if you go back and look at some of their interviews, they do not behave like innocent people. Their responses are bizarre and their behavior is suspect in my opinion. Damien at one point contradicts himself and then when they correct him he says he had been "daydreaming" while on the witness stand. Very weird. Anyway, it still seems hard to believe that three young kids could do something so terrible to other children but I am no longer convinced they're innocent like I used to be.
I'd say the thing that made me rethink it is when the connections to Johnny Depp and other celebs were brought to my attention, I mean I knew Depp was involved but I had no idea they got matching tattoos and all that. I find that really weird, like above and beyond what you would expect from some Hollywood celebrities regarding a murder case in some random hick town, unless it was some kind of occult or Luciferian thing, and I honestly can't even believe this stuff is plausible to me at this point but it is.
I must admit I come from a "Free the WM3" background, but I'm always open to new information that arises over time. I've been wrong before about things.
Interesting point about Miskelley being shaken after the kids were killed. Let me do a bit of research and I'll get back to you on this.
This Johnny Depp thing isn't a smoking gun. The tattoo itself doesn't seem to be of any unusual occult significance (it looks superficially like broken prison bars) and Depp has been a big supporter of the WM3 during their incarceration. I'd consider getting a matching tattoo with a guy who's been trying to get me out of prison for decades.
The WM3 case hit strong resonance with Gen X in general, because we had a high percentage of misfits and weirdos, who were basically harmless but highly individualistic. This could have been any one of us these backwater rubes fitted up, and that's why I and a lot of my generation have always been attracted to the idea of their innocence.
As I said, I'm always open to new evidence, so I'm off to do some research.
