These events could be to fake deaths as a cover for mass abductions and/or if the deaths are real kill molested children which are victims and witnesses to the crimes.
I just thought it was odd for the children to burn down their own shelter in a place like Guatemala. It seems so Ivy League USA and not third world country to destroy your home/school.
