I think that the closest we came in recent years to a genuinely funny, /pol/-mentality hold everyone to the fire attitude on late night, was Craig Ferguson (his early late night years). "They" got to him in the later years of his show, and then "they" hired Colbert, the illogical (pseuo-logical, deep-state pleasing emotional appealing, defer to govt as the savior, Stephen "half-an-ear Colbert."
