I think he's alive, just not at the embassy. I think they took him out but realized that they have basically kidnapped him, proving his point and committing illegal rendition but trump won the election and there hasn't been a war with Russia and now they can't get him back in.

If he were taken or not at the embassy why worry about getting kicked out of the embassy with the election
