Three hour drive by car from Auroville to Chennai, air ambulance would probably half that easily, maybe less.

Hmm well we have this story of an American college student (Katherine Sherman) who "suicided" in Auroville as part of the eco-village program. It even prompted congress to get involved.

I haven't seen anything about this and have always been surprised to not see much in India, considering all the people and poverty...This may be nothing, but you never know. Some others are digging into this too elsewhere, but like I said didn't see it here. Take it down if it is no help.
