Absolutely incomprehensible move motivated by nothing but some weak ass 'more positivity' argument.
I had been on those boards for over sixteen years. I understand EVERYTHING is deleted? I consider this a direct assault on my personal archives as well as the free internet.
What can be behind this? It has to be more than they purport but I don't think deleting and closing more than 15 years of open film discussions is pizza-related either.
The internet is going to shit faster and faster. Anyone know a good alternative to imdb's boards?
O and fuck you IMDB. I'm going to delete all my reviews too.
It happenend in the Netherlands last year, a big news site Nu.nl deleted they're comments section just like that. A lot of people were arguing about the articles there. I guess it's just a form of censorship.

Comment sections are being shuttered across the Internet under the guise that they're 'toxic.'
Just another step in the march to turn the Internet into television.

Don't wait until then. You should be using atleast 2 sites with a PG investigation community all the time. On that topic is there a list somewhere?

Must be something like that. Eg. Disconnect between newspapers articles and their comments has been growing for years.
But this is not just a step this is a leap. Those boards were absolutely massive. I don't think there are many competitors for sheer size.
