Probably already covered but found a watchdog website/blog with tons of newsworthy criminal activity reporting, court documents, links, etc. This particular article provides the most information on this case to date. Perhaps this is why all those guys at the Pentagon, I think I read close to 5k employees ended up with illegal child-porn on their government computers?

“The FBI distributed child pornography to viewers and downloaders worldwide for nearly two weeks, until at least March 4, 2015, even working to improve the performance of the website beyond its original capability,” Peter Adolf, an assistant federal defender in the Western District of North Carolina, writes in a motion to have his client’s indictment thrown out."
“As a result, the number of visitors to Playpen while it was under Government control [increased] from an average of 11,000 weekly visitors to approximately 50,000 per week. During those two weeks, the website’s membership grew by over 30%, the number of unique weekly visitors to the site more than quadrupled, and approximately 200 videos, 9,000 images, and 13,000 links to child pornography were posted on the site,” he continues.
"Christopher Allen, a spokesperson for the FBI, declined to comment on matters pending litigation."

How would pedos know to go there during that window of efficiency? Seems like there might be another site where folks talk about shit.

Word of mouth travels. It's already been covered pretty well that this is a network. People talk to each other in that respect.

Absolutely. Super ballsy to just walk up to someone and guess that they like to touch kids too, though. Even riskier on the internet with no visual body language cues.
Are all these pedos really into computers enough to have a Linux machine and TOR it up? Or is there a more readily accessible website, like Reddit or Tumbler, where these guys are getting a sort of primer education on how to be closet computer fuckchops?
I get the symbols thing but people who aren't into it use those too. My daughter was gifted one on a necklace by her grandma. It's missing now...somehow...

I am not sure how face-to-face this network would be at the lower levels. I mean, I am no stranger to stumbling across illicit content on the WWW or over TOR. I remember 4chan mods didn't used to delete cp threads until they'd been around for hours. If you know the right buzzwords, I would imagine you could find this content on most social media sites (we have already found many on twitter and instagram. I, personally, have seen hundreds of them on Pintrest). I saw in a thread recently that the ONION subreddit kept The Hidden Wiki on the page, knowing that The Hidden Wiki also helped tor users access cp.
