My opinion on why weed and psychedelics were illegal and alcohol isn't, is because the last thing you think about doing is going war when you get high. They always needed soldiers who brainlessly follow orders. Of course psychedelics can be dangerous if you aren't with people you trust. But I do agree that if you smoke periodically long enough, you will become a different person, as well as tripping. That can be a good and a bad thing. Both are classified the same and both are tools.

That doesn't mean you cant beat someone with a wrench instead of fixing stuff with it though. If you use responsibly it could help but you have to know what you're doing. If you don't I suggest you stay away from it. It isn't good or bad, it just is. It's far too relative for me to even summarize or describe it. But I'm just giving a general example.

I like the wrench example; it's helpful by it's own nature as a tool but can easily be misused or abused in a way to make it appear like it's something dangerous.

Thanks, definitely. I learned the hard way you should never trip around people you don't fully trust. After my first initial breakthrough with my "friends" and having a somewhat terrible experience (have reason to believe they did something without my permission to me), I ended up tripping solo again nonetheless because I just thought there is something there to be discovered.

So I tripped by myself and have never had a better experience in my entire life. So now if I end up tripping, I'll only take large doses solo. If someone wants to trip with me I'd take small doses just to be social and have fun. But now I practice safety and caution with everything.

and it's that lesson in introspection you learned that makes it such a powerful tool

Definitely, but there are much, much better ways to learn that though in my opinion. Even if I did learn my lesson to keep a tight grip on my circle of trust. I still could have avoided tripping with that group entirely and just skipped ahead to my solo trip along with some research on psychedelic forums and still been able to explore my own mind on my own terms.
