Theodore S. Spieczny, 88, died Wednesday (Oct. 11,2000) at home. Born in Warren, R.I., he lived in Central Jersey for more than 75 years, the last 50 years in Middlesex. He worked 49 years for CalcoAmerican Cyanamid in Bridgewater, retiring as a supervisor in 1977. He was a charter member of the Middlesex Elks Club and a parishoner of Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church, where he was active in the Holy Name Society and the senior citizens club. Middlesex Borough recognized him as its "Man of the Year" because of his extensive volunteer work in the community. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mary Gabrielski Spieczny; his children, Mary Ann Podesta of Washington D.C., Thomas Spieczny of El Paso, Texas, Todge Spieczny of Fen-wick Island, Del., and Nancy Spieczny Scheps of San Diego; his sisters, Anna Zanandrei and Jean LeMaitre; his brother, Walter Spieczny; and seven grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Cancer Association of Middlesex or Hospice of Somerset. Prayers will be said 8 a.m. Saturday followed by a 9 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin Church in Middlesex. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough. Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Bridgewater Funeral Home, 707 E. Main St., Bridgewater.
