Societal collapse is imminent. If it isn't now, it's later. A true cabin in the woods scenario. Do you reveal the beast, knowing it will consume you all so that innocent life be 'saved'? Or do you let it continue feeding, sacrificing the few for the many.

Metaphorical, of course...but with all this talk of ancient Gods & Goddesses, you can't be too sure.
