Maybe I'm Voat-stupid, but why are so many duplicate posts being allowed..? There were already a couple of new threads on Tamera Luzzato today.

When I heard people talking about "sliding" posts (did I even get that right?), I thought they were paranoid.

Now I'm starting to think people are intentionally duping posts to push info off of front page.

There is a TON of new info coming out daily and the mods need to crack down on this. Many of these OP's can be putting this shit in the comments. Everybody here reads the comments section anyway...that's half the point.

To start a new thread, please have an original fucking angle...

As the Voat PG community becomes larger, this will happen more and more. We can't assume everyone has been on here from Day 1

I know...I shouldn't complain, especially since I'm actively promoting this site on other comment boards all over the web...

Mods are well aware of the problem. Voat's hardcore commitment to minimal moderation and anti-censorship means we cannot remove duplicate posts from different users. We can ask them to remove and link them to earlier threads, but that doesn't stop the shills who have figured out how to forum slide in the way you describe. We are discussing this "spam" problem and may soon adjust the Submission Rules to include limited duplicate removal.

In the meantime, it's up to users to downvoat duplicate posts so they don't get upvoated and compete with prior material and drive content off the board, and educate OPs via comments about why they should remove their post and add to an already existing thread.

You are also more than welcome to submit a post in v/ProtectVoat about how we can address this problem you are seeing as a user. Every time there is a big PG news story -- like the Seaman dustup this week -- we get a wave of new users who are new to Voat. They want to make posts to get points for their new accounts and don't care how they do it. It's understandable, but makes a mess. :-)

A part of the problem is that voat's search function is garbage. I don't post because I can never tell if it's a repost.

Yeah, I mean, this was all discussed thoroughly back in November when the group was still on Reddit. This is not at all anything new whatsoever...
