Hey @sore_ass_losers, yeah you're right, I do have to take this down bc of rule 4, BUT, thank you for bringing this to our attention. I'm going to bring it up to the other mods and suggest we start archiving the deleted posts every 8 days or so. I'll ping you when we reach a decision.
The 8 days is just a measure of current traffic. I think the bottleneck is 19 days. I went to /v/funny, page=19 gets me a message about no deletions, page=20 gets me something went wrong.
Agree. Okay, I'm going to take it upon myself to archive once every 4 days. I will speak to the mods to add a folder in the sticky that will link to all of the links. I'd like to see this addressed by the next open thread and hopefully added to the sticky, but I've got to go through Millennial_Falcon and he isn't online right now. I will keep you posted, thanks for bringing this to my attention, I agree that it's a huge problem.
Yeah, I went to Deleted Submissions regularly for some interesting material.
Those deleted submissions are around, they just don't get linked from Deleted Submissions. It could be a Voat bug, someone thought 19 pages would be ample.
It makes sense, this is probably the only sub where super old deleted submissions would be relevant at all. I've set my google calendar to remind me to archive every Monday and Thursday, so you can check archive.is to keep me honest. :)
I think this post should be left up. Rules are meant to be followed but they can also be ignored in special occasions, and I think this warrants that. This is definitely a problem and something that needs to be dealt with and people need to be aware of.
Unfortunately, I don't have the power to un-delete it. I've already brought the issue up to the other mods, perhaps we can bring it up in next week's open thread with a solution. I do agree that this needs to be seen. I had no idea this was the case and archiving the link once a week would probably not be a big inconvenience to us.
I wonder why voat doesn't allow mods to undelete like reddit does?
I think the mods should have a thread about it as soon as possible, so many threads get removed, that means even more potential for stuff to be lost between now and next week.
This really sucks, I know there were some good threads that got removed weeks ago...
No, I'm trying to work with you to find a solution. Ideally if we use archive.is or archive.org, anyone would be able to see it. Yes, I did delete you already because the post violates rule 4. I'm not sure what else you'd like besides an archive, since this is a Voat issue and not a mod issue.
If newcomers get here and click "modlog" they won't see the archived posts. They would be given the archive link specifically.
Also, archive has been known to fail.
So your solution doesn't work for two reasons.
I will bring it up with the mods to add the links to the stickied post. The archive thing I really don't think I can do anything about. Again, this is a Voat issue, not a subverse specific issue so I literally cannot fix it. I can only archive.
Yeah "bringing it up" isn't gonna do shit and talking about it at next week's open discussion isn't gonna do shit. Moving away from voat is the only thing that will help
Thank you for calling this to people's attention. This is a really scary, big fucking deal. Lots of great research lost forever/only remains in screenshots. 8 days is nothing, great research was done over a month ago
Haha, just realized the mods can now say "link me to ONE good post that was deleted" because we can't! They're gone!

Noted. I'm thinking once a week archive. Do you think we should do it twice a week just to be safe?
sore_ass_losers ago
Maybe so, this place could get really crazy if something broke.

You have to take this down? What about announcing it to voaters? Your first instinct is to cover up?
abortionburger ago
You should also bring this up to @crensch and @kevdude at v/protectvoat.
sore_ass_losers ago
I think you just did.
abortionburger ago
Again, it violates rule 4. I'm trying to work with you here.
sore_ass_losers ago
So all the lost posts are gone? Thanks for all the deletions, buddy!
abortionburger ago
If posts broke the rules, they were deleted. That is the way it has always been.
ConcernedParent2 ago
Do the mods know about it? I'm sure it's likely they weren't aware it only went back 8 pages.
sore_ass_losers ago
They know now and weren't aware before.
abortionburger ago
I did not know that was the case. I'll start a conversation with the other mods to archive every 8 days.

Yeah I agree. I'm going to push to have action taken quickly, and I'll archive the link right now so nothing else gets lost.
ConcernedParent2 ago
thanks for working with us AB!
abortionburger ago
No problem at all! Here's the link to where I archived it - http://archive.is/vkUvy
sore_ass_losers ago
That's it? An archive? Do us peons get to see it?
Also, you deleted me already. So you want pizzagate users to be ignorant of this issue?
abortionburger ago

Dude I'm trying to work with you here. Cut me some slack.
POSTSDELETEDFOREVER ago
No, you're not, and fuck you because if you had honest intentions you would be
1) freaking out realizing that posts are gone forever
2) encouraging users to find a new site until this site-wide issue is fixed
3) not deleting this information more quickly than you've ever deleted anythning
Instead you're arguing and trying to make voat still work out. It's not gonna work out, sorry mods!
sore_ass_losers ago
I posted on pizzagatewhatever, pizzagatemods, and here (even though I know it won't last long).
I was trying to go way back, got tired of hitting the Next button and started entering a page number. 19 is the highest it goes.
Neinerr ago
Millenial mod, the same mod who deleted posts regarding the connections between huma abedin and terrorist organizations.
POSTSDELETEDFOREVER ago
HOLY SHIT HOLY SHIT
Thank you for calling this to people's attention. This is a really scary, big fucking deal. Lots of great research lost forever/only remains in screenshots. 8 days is nothing, great research was done over a month ago

VOAT IS DONE
sore_ass_losers ago
Yeah, it sucks so bad, an illusory "Deleted Submissions" link.
POSTSDELETEDFOREVER ago
"Leave Reddit for Voat. There's complete free speech and a mod log, nothing is ever deleted permanently!"
Free speech except meme magic and "general discussion" (unless mod-initiated). Nothing less-than-a-week-old* is deleted permanently, the rest is.
sore_ass_losers ago
"nothing is ever deleted permanently" - wow, this better be a glitch and everything magically reappears.
