Whomever is an object, not a subject. Your title should read whoever feels comfortable.

Why do people feel the need to use whomever just to sound smarter? You sound like a retard when you use it wrong.

nomorepepperoni ago

Lol thanks English professor, I've heard it used both ways. Shrug

SaveTheChildren ago

Well why don't you just learn the difference then, rather than just flip a coin and shove it in your sentences?

nomorepepperoni ago

I didn't have an English professor correct me for it before lol, then again I usually do use whoever and avoid this.

It's really easy.

Subject : Whoever.

Object: Whomever.

Do you understand the difference between being the subject of a sentence and being an object?

The 'trick' is replace the word with he/him. If he is the correct choice, then use who (both end in vowel). If him is the correct choice, use whom (both end in consonant). Of course this is the kind of stupid trick they teach you in school that completely forgoes the simple explanation based on simple concepts one should already know about sentences (subject vs object).

Another rule is that when it's part of a prepositional phrase you usually use whom (most of whom, some of whom, etc). That itself accounts for most usage of whom. But in this case the phrase is an independent clause where 'whomever' is clearly in the subject slot, so the subject-object rule overrides the aforementioned rule of thumb re: prepositional phrases. That's where the OP got confused. So I think you should acknowledge that instead of being a haughty ass.

Way to over-complicate it. Subject vs Object. That's it.

Subject 'slot'? Is this the type of moronic nonsense they teach these days? No wonder younger kids are so terrible at written English.

psmith85 ago

Way to not acknowledge nuance that can understandably confuse people. I'm not a younger kid. It's called sentence-diagramming. It has been taught in elementary school grammar courses for the last century. Guess you never took those. Every sentence must have a position (or 'slot' in a sentence diagram) in it for the subject.

SaveTheChildren ago

Well it obviously doesn't work. Barely anyone uses whomever correctly. They just throw it in to feel fancy. That's honestly what 90+ % of people today think. So your little sentence slot bull-ish doesn't work too well.

I still don't understand what is so difficult about learning the difference between subject and object. Is that really too hard for today's youth?

psmith85 ago

There's nothing hard about it; I have firsthand knowledge that they're mostly social-media-addicted retards who don't understand things like parts of speech, let alone subject-object. But that's another story.

SaveTheChildren ago

They're all so addicted to the media, but they can't tell that they are obviously all a bunch of trannies?

I have always ignored the media. I never actually took close looks at the elite and celebrities because I didn't give a shit. But these people look at these freaks every day! Nobody took the time to sit down and wonder why they all look like tranny freakazoids?

psmith85 ago

I think it's the estrogens in the environment and food supply that are producing bitch men who prefer dominant, manly-looking women, hence the tranny trend (with I'm sure some actual trannies thrown in, though most are just manly women I think)

SaveTheChildren ago

There's no explanation for why hollywood is full of tranny-looking people that the MSM has to try so hard brainwashing us into finding them 'attractive'.

You can try to cover up for them by just calling them 'manly', but that's bullshit. They are manly because they are tranny abominations.

psmith85 ago

Maybe so in some cases; but they can also just find manly looking women to produce the same effect. You also have the opposite agenda with alleged male celebrities like Bieber who is a female (and with actual males who just don't look like developed, full-grown men), teaching adult women to prefer bitch, boyish men.

SaveTheChildren ago

I don't deny that some of them could just be manly women, but this doesn't explain why they are all this way.

It proves collusion.
