Besides the possible bragging motive, at this point I think that a dash to the nearest international airport would hurt rather than help someone's legal prospects. It would be practically an admission of guilt. Any digital media that was going to be wiped would have been wiped already. And that Globe tabloid did say that Bill and Hillary had already been arrested at an airport, trying to flee to Bahrain... Surely the unnamed others would be under watch too.
There will be a lot of plea deals. Remember operation paperclip where we forgave Nazi leaders who agreed to help our scientific and intelligence efforts?
I think that you're right, there's the admission of guilt issue, and there's the hoping to get an angle because you know a thousand other people who could fall with you.
Plus, this stuff really is secret, and these people are arrogant fanatics.
Nah, they had their chance to flip and they chose to keep backing the losing side. They made their bed and now they'll lie in it. The only people who will get out unscathed are those who read the situation in advance, and acted accordingly. Such as Comey, who weaseled his way out of a tight spot by playing his position brilliantly. Also the Bush family are out of the game. Comey/Bushs/whoever else are basically the Brexiteers of Pizzagate. They got out before the whole thing collapses.

It would be nice if it were true but I doubt it.
Besides, if arrests are imminent don't you want to keep that quiet? You don't want to tip off the perps.
