Interesting development because he won't settle and wants to bring the case.
That means discovery. That means many anomalies brought to light.
For one, I have not read a single news article on this case that is consistent with others. Nor an official account for that matter.
Like, one shot fired? Two? Three? None? Server destroyed through shot at door but not the door itself? Where is this door anyway?
Leading to an empty room or no? Room with upper windows as claimed or no? Outside walk in freezer or no? If yes where?
This may yet get interesting.

That does not mean discovery. That's in a civil lawsuit. This is a criminal case. He is entitled to the evidence that will be presented against him.

He could at least get major coverage of this and perhaps his defense could get public. Especially if he doesn't get much of a conviction people will want to know why not.
This sounds like you are assuming he will take the stand in his defense to get major coverage. Also brandishing a firearm IS Assault.
Legally, Assualt is the threat of violence and battery is actual physical impact.
