I'm betting they told him to do this, and in court they'll find some reason they have to let him off. It was part of the plan to begin with, maybe, when they set the whole thing up. Regardless of what happens, they've still bee able to use the talking points he provided re "fake news" being dangerous. No media will rescind or correct their stories. And the actor goes free.
