I thought they could maybe use 'Blue Beam' to simulate an asteroid impact (or 'Planet X'), whether in the Atlantic or Pacific (the actual 'impact' to be simulated via nukes, I suppose).
Some of the literature suggests that the connection comes through the idea of "shining" ones, which is used to describe otherworldly beings that appear in or appear to command unearthly or unnatural light.
Actually, read the book of Enoch (quoted in the book of Jude in the Bible). It clearly differentiates between fallen angels and demons. Demons being the spirits of the nephalim, offspring hybrids of human women and fallen angels.
