I'm not a big fan of this. I'm worried about innocent people who are found guilty, and human trafficking isn't always what people think of when they think of human trafficking. A lot of these comments seem to be about vengeance, and creating law out of vengeance is a very bad idea.
I agree. While I do support the death penalty, it should be rather rare and sparing unless specific types of evidence are overwhelmingly strong. It's important to understand that most forensic evidence is completely bullshit. The FBI is now documented to have lied on the stand as a measure of policy. And they manufacturer test results to as to assist with conviction.
To date, the only forensic evidence which has withstood significant scientific scrutinty is DNA. And prosecutors are refusing to properly submit abd use such evidence. The medical community has issued specific guidelines for use in court rooms, for the proper use of DNA evidence. To date, courts are almost completely ignoring these guidelines. These guidelines specifically exist because the medical community has noted wrongful convictions based on dishonest representation of DNA evidence.
For example, did you know that the notion that something as basic as fingerprints has not been peer reviewed? In fact, we now have solid evidence that fingerprints are NOT unique to an individual. One guy was falssely accused based on another man's fingerprints.
If you have any respect for law and science, the demand for the death penalty must be supported by extremely high burden of proof. And what science has to say on it is that most courts and "forensic experts" are straight up lying mother fuckers.
If you've not seen "Making A Murderer", please do. Then get online and start reviewing why so much "evidence" is completely bullshit in that case. You'll also get you fill of lying experts, attorneys, and FBI agents. It serves as a good primer of just how fucked up our justice system actually is these days.
I have to agree. Not wanting to offend, but some of the people here would convict people for having a pedoish logo alone. It is really frightening how quickly they rush to judgment. If you value right to life, you should value all people's right to life. Just jail them without possibility of parole.
I hear you. But if we get those blatant, dead to rights, cases where they're just pleading insanity. Then some pro bono lawyer snags the case for publicity. At that point, maybe a bullet to the head?
They would need harder evidence than a logo or claims. And it's not pedophilia that's up there, it's trafficing. I would find it hard to be falsely accused for that.
What about people like the guy who admitted to helping kidnap Johnny Gosch, Paul Bonacci? He was a victim of the ring, but they made him do stuff like kidnap kids etc - he's the kind of person who could end up on death row, and I expect there are many like him, where the real evil fuckers get their victims to carry out their crimes for them just because it's extra sadistic and minimises hard evidence that they were in fact responsible. I know everyone wants to see justice done and the hate for these people is powerful and justified,, but we still have to think clearly and remember that re-victimising or putting to death one innocent person over this would be worse than the rest of these evil fuckers spending their lives in jail instead of being killed. It's just not worth the risk IMO.
We aren't writing law on a coat forum, we are expressing our anger. There's a big difference. I also agree that everyone who isnancitzen requires due process

Of course. Just saying how when a crime is horrific people aren't as stringent in weighing evidence.

This politician is writing law that commentators here are supporting.
