I think Alefantis and Brock are trying to save their own lives by turning a loss (the whole local game exposed) to a win (false news and censorship). I think they are in a lot of trouble with their handlers and their only hope, now that they are household names and have face recognition, is to steer the attention toward the fake news agenda. It is smart thinking on their part. I was sure they were going to be killed by their people. They can always do that and blame it on an irate vigilante like they did to clear the evidence out of Comet. But they could only do one of them without it being super suspicious. So that makes Alefantis and Brock work all the harder because the bear will just get the slowest runner.
