We must ask, then, What is the function of this? Why did he do it, and why is there a news article about it? They use the word photograph specifically... they know what will eventually come out and are hoping to confuse search engines. Its a by the book digital smokescreen.

Exactly. I'd bet money that those little kids had no idea who he was. Kids that age don't generally care about that stuff, even if they did know him.
