Filipino here, ask me stuff! The priest who molested him is a Jesuit named Mark Falvey .

Falvey was a prolific molester. http://www.rappler.com/nation/politics/elections/2016/114929-duterte-abuse-jesuit-identified

Thank you!

I've been to the PI three times...mostly Visayas region...I even stayed for a week on Siquijor (very cool), and Boracay of course. Totally enjoyed it...that's all.

Regarding the Catholic church, they are corrupt at the top for sure. If they would lift the stupid ban on priests being able to marry, a lot of the pedo problems would be solved IMO. Plus, I want to know what the ancient artifacts are in the basement.

How well sourced is this? What year did this take place and was Falvey confirmed to be in the Philippines at that time?

The priest was working in China then Philippines from 1950-1959. Duterte says it happened in 1956.

The local Jesuit society spokesperson says there is truth to Du30's claim in this link: (sorry if it's in Filipino)

http://www.pep.ph/news/61280/rodrigo-dutertes-claim-that-he-was-molested-by-a-priest-may-be-true-says-jesuit-priest

The priest died at 1975 and then a lot of molestation claims popped up. The church paid $16Million to settle his cases.

also Nice username.

Thanks. I was able to see he was in the US since 59. One source I saw said that Duterte said he was 15 when it happened. He turned 11 in 1956. So somebody is wrong.

What about the Carmelites? I have a friend in the Philippines who went in to the order two years ago, a guy in his 30's. He STILL very openly flies the rainbow flag, supports LGBT, etc. I was surprised. He has told me parents happily sell their kids for sex, because they're so poor. The church pushes them to have so many kids.

Sexism isn't really a thing here. Damn SJW wannabes and liberals want to be victims. I mean, the native languages here have no gender.

Your friend is right. To add, local government officials protect the traffickers.

Not so familiar with carmelites though, the jesuits are the "active" ones.

Thank you.

Is Duterte perhaps trying to encourage citizens of Philippines to stand up and challenge the RCC, especially in regard to their long history of sexual abuse of children? Why do they continue to support male-supremacist religion? Why do women and families continue to turn their young children over to their priests and their teachings? Many of their orphanages and institutions for children have had really scandalous problems in other countries. http://www.infobarrel.com/Quebecs_Duplessis_Orphans Here's another one -- http://readersupportednews.org/news-section2/318-66/24112-mass-grave-of-dead-babies-in-ireland-used-as-guinea-pigs-for-pharmaceutical-company (Ireland)

Yeah. Aside from child abuse, Du30 called them out for stealing our gold .

3 centuries of colonization brainwashed the people here. Even our national heroes from 2 centuries ago wrote against the Catholic church.

Catholicism is slowly going out of trend here, good thing.

That links are painful.

Yes -- perhaps your gold is at Oak Island -- Every time they talk about these suspected "treasures" I wonder if the people will ever see it returned to them. Like Kaddafi -- hundreds of billons in Swiss accounts -- and cash on hand! But doubt it will ever be returned to the people of Libya.

They say that non-believers have almost now equaled believers. Think belief in universal spirituality is best. Imagine if Reincarnation had continued to be taught!

I continue to be newly disgusted the more I read about the RCC -- I left as soon as I could as a child. Wish I had left sooner!

Best wishes to all there --
