"IDVSA. AUSTIN, Texas - There are more than 300,000 victims of human trafficking in Texas, including almost 79,000 minors and youth victims of sex trafficking and nearly 234,000 adult victims of labor trafficking, according to a groundbreaking study by the Institute on Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault at The University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work. Researchers conducted interviews, focus groups and web-based surveys with professionals at social service agencies who provide outreach and relief services to trafficking victims and survivors to establish benchmarks on human trafficking prevalence across Texas. "This research helps bring human trafficking out of the shadows: the men, women and children who are victims of trafficking in Texas are no longer invisible. The report will be a significant resource for policymakers, professionals, survivor leaders and community members as we continue to work together to end human trafficking."

I thought the numbers in VA were only like 300, and that that was the record. Are missing children and trafficked minors different statistics?

There may be some cross over but it looks like the child would have to be reported missing first. If they came in from outside the country that onviously wouldn't happen.

I skimmed through this yesterday looking for a country breakdown of where the trafficked children are from and did not see that info. Did I miss it somewhere? Specifically was looking for Haiti and the Dominican Republic...

Unfortunately there isn't a breakdown of origin countries in that article. It would be safe to say that New York and California might have similar numbers of trafficking due to their large populations? Scarey.
