Right, literally "the secret society." Prima facie, it cannot be a metaphor.

Alternatively, since there are multiple secret societies and Gingrich did not indicate which one he meant, it can only be a metaphor.

I've shown enough evidence w/ other clips already on this thread, we can agree to disagree. But your logic makes no sense here, I think it is a false dichotomy.

It makes sense -- at least, AFAIK -- if Gingrich was using the phrase "the secret society" in a general way. Do you know the social strata of the "elite"? I don't. I could make a comment like Gingrich's and I would mean that he's not part of "their" "club", even though I wouldn't have a particular specific occult group in mind.

Trump "isn't one of them" would be another way of saying the same thing.

I really think you guys are off base assuming Gingrich must have had a specific group in mind here. I think that would be very strange, although I'll stop short of claiming impossible.

Newt's allegiance is to the Bohemian Grove. (I edited my post to show evidence of that just btw.) Possibly Newt is saying that Trump's not a member of the Bohemian Grove. I think as far as 'initiation rites,' the simplest explanation is that they do exist, whatever they may be (some take the meaning to an extreme, but who knows what they are for sure, assuming they do exist).

Well, I think there's little point in debating this further here. We have trouble agreeing on the meaning of Newt's words, because they are so few.

You can't put too much water in a nuclear reactor, after all.

We should ask Newt! You first :)
