How is it even possible to just walk away? The police/feds aren't pursuing this? Did they tell you to STOP? Or, did they tell you "don't worry, we got this."?
Actually likely he was shook up so much by what happened, has a family and girlfriend, and said forget it I don't need this crap. Simple as that. The authorities know where he is if they need him. Good grief, he needs a breather.
Everyone knew from the beginning the dangers that are involved in this. Taking a potential smoking gun and walking away just doesn't sound like something any of us would do. It sounds like what James would want. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure if he was lying he would be facing a court date and this would be all over the news as another example of how wrong we all are. Something else happened, this should have been a big story either way. Do you know him or something?
I understand it's possible that he was told to be quiet, but having been following this and also talking w/ him privately (I live near him ... and I mean PM'g him only), it's just my feeling that he just wants to wash his hands of it. He was pretty shook up. The threat from Alefantis was basically equivalent to telling him to shut up. We never spoke of anything about FBI etc. Didn't want to spook him.
The "good grief" wasn't aimed towards anyone, just kind of rhetorical. Ryan is a young guy and he got in too fast too deep, he never actually thought he and Alefantis would end up having this 'back and forth.' I don't see why you can't just "walk away," I would if I was him (it ain't worth the fear), especially after having contacted authorities, they know how to get in touch w/ him if necessary.
I believe Alefantis was just trying to scare him and is about to go down, my guess is he's got more worries at this point than pursuing Ryan ... everybody and his brother is after Alefantis, in fact he himself is scared of someone killing him. He's a punk.
This thing becoming a 'big story' is not what Ryan wants at this point, he's been shaken, surely you understand him wanting to lay low. There were a lot of cops who knew all about what was behind JKF assassination, and when one did speak up and pursued it his life was ruined and eventually he was killed (they say suicide). Not worth it.
