If you research the 'Paul is Dead' conspiracy you will understand more about what it takes to become a big-time celeb, and what they give up. Read McCartney's autobiography, written by him through a ghostwriter w/ approval from his lawyers, you'll freak out. On Amazon, "The Memoirs of Billy Shears." Yes I am sane. Get the condensed version, "Billy's Back." Plunge down the rabbit hole.
@TAThatBoomerang TLDR apparently means different things. Whatever. It took me months of research to believe it, but the original Paul died in '66, that's why the rumors never ceased. He was replaced by talented Scottish session musician William Shepherd (aka Billy Shears, Sgt. Pepper album, the funeral album). There's overwhelming forensic, etc. evidence. He’s three inches (at least) taller than the original Paul (James Paul McCartney).
This guy Shepherd (Billy) took over the band. The show had to go on, lots of money and potential cultural influence at stake. British intelligence was involved. This is the reason for the band's style change and all the gloominess and morbidity and clue-dropping accompanying their post-Beatlemania period. It’s a very tragic story and caused much pain, esp. for John and George, they ended up disgusted with him.
The replacement (Shepherd) is commonly referred to as 'Faul' (false Paul). He's a bit of a narcissist and wants credit for his role before he dies, so he's releasing evidence, he is believed to be the producer of The Winged Beatle (youtube) and the author of his own memoirs, Memoirs of Billy Shears on Amazon (I bought the condensed version Billy's Back - read the reviews).
He was able to write the memoirs and not break N/D's if he agreed to call it fiction. If you're not a Beatle fan it's hard to research it, and to care, understandably so. But it's one of the most incredible stories I've ever seen. It is almost impossible to read the book and not believe it's really him (Sir Paul). There's a youtube clip of Denny Lane (Wings) basically admitting this - he and Shepherd go way back, they were together in a band in 1963. Youtube clip also of George with Lennon dissing ‘Beatle Bill’ after the break-up.
And on and on. I would be the last one to imbibe such a seemingly incredible and nonsensical thing, but I now must admit it is true. Read it and find out why "She came in through the bathroom window," and that's just the beginning. (How did I do as far as the TLDR thingy – worse?)
Remember hearing of this but always when I was stoned. I remember a shift in the tone of the Beatles I remember it being gloomy and the placement and certain pictures of the Beatles signifies also they didn't like 'bill' from what I can remember and hints were dropped. Excuse me I might be a little off with info but I do recall hearing what we called 'tales' and never thinking much of it.
Haha, don't watch The Winged Beatle while stoned. I've followed the rumors since a kid, it was always tamped down and always coming back up. The death of Paul changed everything, they instantly became a studio band, full of grieving. I was spooked by it for years, and dismissing it, but it dawned on me that celebs die tragically all the time (Buddy Holly, Jim Croce, Ricky Nelson etc.) ... it just so happened that in this case there was too much at stake to not let the show go on. Faul is somewhat into the occult, no surprise. Heather Mills has known for a while, and afraid for her life. Life is weird man.

Thanks and agreed all these deaths like buddy holly and Richie, was ironic they died airborne as I think it was buddy? Not sure but one of them accordingly never flied as they feared it same for aaliyah. so the fact they got on could of been prevented.
Yeah Ritchie Valens was scared of flying, really ironic, he died with Holly and someone that had traded places with Waylon Jennings on the plane that night. They were cleared for take-off but flew into a blizzard. Lennon, because of this, thought he'd end up like Holly, his hero, but George hated planes even more so, for different reasons. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGxswarQLH4
