Pizzagate grew out of The_Donald, it's been highly political since the start, and democrats have been trying heavily to shut it down.
"Dems don't care" is obviously a gross overstatement and generalization, and I would never say such a thing myself, but there is some truth to it, at least among higher ups in the party.
