While this isn't something that I would go out and show to teens in a highschool classroom setting, making a big deal about banning it is just going to make teens read it more. Just pick an alternate book to read next year... If the reasoning for using the book is to discuss sex in novels, there are better choices which also bring up issues of race and LGB stuff and use things like smell, sound and colour (I assume there is some "deep meaning" behind that green paint) to make a point.
Is this book something that was used in an Advanced Placement class? Those classes are more on par with college level stuff. I could see a book like this being read in an undergraduate African American Lit or an inclusive American Lit class.
This becomes the paradigm after gay marriage is passed.Any parent that gets in the way of the new orthodox is considered to be abusing the child or not worthy to be the guardians and the child can be legally removed from the family.
We know what this means....the smorgasbord of choice become larger.
