I was alarmed when I saw NYTimes shut down the story of the Noryway pedophile ring bust. (https://i.sli.mg/0BhVKz.jpg))
I wanted to try to determine who was behind that.
It took me some digging to determine who was the current executive editor of the NYTimes.
The current Who's Who:
This article describes a power struggle between former executive editor (and staff-favorite) Jill Abramson and current executive editor Dean Baquet and publisher Arthur O. Sulzberger Jr: (https://archive.fo/xHVBH))
And Public Editor Liz Spayd took role in May. Sulzberger announced in February the departure Margaret Sullivan.
NY Post reports:
"...Baquet made the decision to sever the paper from its roots. [Sulzberger] must assess the impact on reporters and editors, and whether they felt pressure to conform their stories to Baquet’s political bias." - (https://archive.fo/OFhLK))
Sounds like Baquet has immense power at the Times.
I found this profile article about Dean Baquet, Exec Editor of NYTimes: (https://archive.fo/VtgIw))
...Some notes
- From New Orleans French Quarter to Treme of Louisiana
- Went to St. Augustine High School (all-boys, all-black Catholic academy)
- Friends with Ex-Mayor of New Orleans Ray Nagin
- favorite fictional protagonists, Binx Bolling
That last item's interesting. Binx Bolling's character from a summary of the book The Moviegoer: (https://infogalactic.com/info/The_Moviegoer))
"the problems of his family and his traumatic experiences…have left him alienated from his own life…in desperate need of spiritual redemption. At Mardi Gras he…launches himself on a journey…in "search" of his inner self."
Then we find in 2006, ABC News reported that Baquet had killed a story about NSA wiretaps of Americans. - https://infogalactic.com/info/Dean_Baquet
So this Dean Baquet guy killed coverage of NSA wiretap story (https://archive.fo/azlyR)), and he just wiped the Norway pedophile ring bust story from the NYTimes, while the rest of the site is pushing the Russian hacker story: https://sli.mg/uguegS

You don't even have to get that specific.
Carlos Slim bought the New York Times (most of it, or a lot of it).
He also donated millions and millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation.
Case closed.

I agree that NYTimes is a completely compromised news source, but I do think it's valuable to note the key players shutting down stories.
When Dean Baquet came to the times he already had a reputation as "subservient to intelligence community" as Glenn Greenwald put it, he displaced a popular Executive Editor Jill Abramson, and the timing was pretty good for Hillary, wouldn't you say?

I'm not disagreeing with you. I'm just pointing out that you can just look at to Carlos Slim and the CF to see the corruption. You are adding more detail.

That's very true and you have a solid point. Still think looking into how this works is important. People like slim and guistra don't get their hands dirty anymore but people trying to make a mark they do, those are the people who will make mistakes.
