Can someone give me a quick overview on the status of this case? I thought this was an old, inactive case--is that inaccurate? Why would some old case like this all of a sudden be on the news, apart from the pizzagate/Podesta angle? Why did the police wait until just now to say they know who did it?

This sounds more like a cover than anything else--a "band of Portuguese thieves during a botched burglary." Really? So nothing weird/interesting/pizza-related to see here guys. Just thieves.

I looked at the article. Not many details. It's a "claim" that police know who did it. Can anyone confirm that police are actually claiming this? Also, what law stops UK Police from naming the Portuguese kidnappers?

Anyhow, imagine you're a burglar robbing a house you thought was empty. You find that a very young girl is still there. Is your first instinct to kidnap her? Why not lock her in the bathroom and finish your burglary? Or perhaps the burglars accidentally killed the little girl during the robbery. Do you take the body and dispose of it or do you just get the hell out of there? If you take the body, now there's a very active police manhunt for a missing child.

For me this story doesn't add up with the few details the article/video gives.
