He basically got his own area of the jail and work release so he could be gone from the jail most of the day. I know some violent offenders (white and wealthy) who basically got the same work release deal on their first violent offense. They can leave the jail for something like up to 12 hours a day on weekdays so long as their employer is informed of the situation and rules for this.
