Two typos actually! When you add them back in you wonder is that a sentence you would ever use in this circumstance. Its not the disowning of an illegitimate child is oh crap thats a fake email, or 'dont reply to that' 'its a scam' etc. They must think we have brain damage.
The IT staffer claimed that he was supposed to put a "not" before the "a legitimate". However I think he is just trying to cover his tracks.
What he meant to say is that the need to change the password is legitimate but THAT particular email is not the correct way to do it :)
