This morning, I dug heavily into who the two Andrew J Kline people are, just to kill my nagging doubt. I have said repeatedly that the rarity of the name Andrew J Kline makes it highly improbable that there would be two working in law in a single city - but i was wrong. these are, in my mind, definitely two different people.

that said, i thought they're both worth investigating.

Andrew Jon Kline graduated from William and Mary Law School in 1981. His class picture is on a pdf embedded in this page:

Andrew J Kline "attended" Pepperdine and claims a JD'91, but i cannot find a record of him at Pepperdine. He also graduated from Emerson, class of 87 - I can find a record of him there, in the form of a yearbook picture:

it's upside-down, because they scanned it wrong, but page 210/211 shows a young Andrew J. Kline circa 1987.

so we really do have two. i think the argument about whether or not they were the same guy distracted us (me, at least) from the full depth of the non-DOJ AJK's influence.

Kline (the elder) is the Veritas group. he's a member of the bar in California and DC, and doesn't claim any other bar affiliations.

is that odd, or is that normal? i know firms share buildings and addresses, but do they share suites? that's something i just haven't seen before.

I said yesterday that CONNEB was a dead end, and i meant it. the owner of the block is completely not where we need to go...and the Andrew J Kline at the DOJ is also not a primary lead, but this guy...he is.

He was suspended for three years in 2011 by the bar for paying a $50,000 settlement to "someone" who was suing one of his clients. A secret settlement, out of a fund which he shouldn't have used, and then he slowly siphoned money back in. when he was caught out, he couldn't prove anything to the court because HIS LAPTOP JUST STOPPED WORKING and THE CONTENTS WERE UNREADABLE.
