Be careful here. Why has Matt Drudge not touched PGate? Why did Megyn's interview of Comet Ping Pong's owner J Alefantis just disappear? It is because of Obama's pardon power. There is a huge silent elephant in the room here. NYT, WaPo etc run stories critical of 'fake news' but there is a not the usual hum of pickup stories on it. I think DT is actually planning on draining the swamp for real and is letting honest journalists like Drudge and Megyn Kelly in on the truth. That is why there is abject panic among the left, and some on the right. John McCain and Mitch McConnell, I'm talking about you...
You might be right but I also caution you that thinking DT can miraculously "drain the swamp" when the presidential office has been a puppet for much, much higher powers since the dawn of time.. is also misguided. You do not get behind that desk without some point(s) of leverage. He might not be embroiled in CF and pedo trafficking, but he is dirty just as every other CEO and politician. It's all a matter of degree. I do agree that Obama's pardon power probably has some influence at least a public perception of influence. But the CIA and its masters are in control here, make no doubt. Waiting for DT to be your savior is just asking to be duped.
I'm not sure you understand how politics work. It's not about being "perfect". You know NOTHING about this guy other than he's been involved in shady business for decades. THAT is the only known and that makes him every bit as "leveragable" than any other criminal and just as "paid off". It's just going to be a different kind of madness.
I wasn't intending to offend you. But most people don't understand the darker undercurrents of politics. People who talk "DT doing this or that" - seem to get caught up in the drama. I certainly understand feeling desperate to believe in someone or something (certainly in current times). It just has no place in American politics.
Saddens me but I think you're right.
Remember how hopeful everyone felt after Bush was out and Obama came in?
I agree that the top job is not left to chance and I fear that this will go down the same memory hole as The Franklin Scandle.
I hope to God I'm wrong and Trump turns the lights on these disgusting rats...but I won't hold my breath.
Yeah - I remember "hoping" that Obama comes out on the other side of (the first) 4 yrs with his sanity intact. He inherited the largest economic shitstorm of the century (at the time). Turns out, he's been a fairly reliable pawn - other than the Patriot Act he's done more to desecrate our civil liberties and so much else, just the least hateful and paranoid of the bunch.
It's obvious in hindsight. How does an obscure nobody become president so damn fast? He had no experience, he had no background, yet suddenly he wins the democrat primaries over Clinton?
Some people argue that it was the race card. They point out that he would be the perfect candidate to win people over with that. Here is a guy who is utter proof that the system "works", that affirmative action and other programs can take an underdog and bring them straight to the top.
People liked that, they liked seeing a positive product of the system, the outlier when they have 99 other examples that the system is broken. He had the backing of the Academic Lobby on top of this, and it allowed the democrats to sell themselves as the "everybody party of intellectuals".
8 years of this, and we discover that he did things that Dick Cheny would not do, that he made a lot of the situations worse, not better, and the economy got so bad that the world bank declared that 1.5% growth is the new norm.
He was the perfect pawn, the low information people just eat him up. The problem is that we are in an age where you can not escape information, information shoves itself down your throat whether you like it or not. It is viral.
No one anticipated this, it is the psyoperatives wet dream.

True, he's not perfect. But they haven't dealt with someone in office like him before, not paid off by anyone. Plus we can have hope.

Yes - maintain hope. But this isn't a game.

Yes, I know how politics work, and I don't think I ever referred to it as a game.

Remember: He's NOT EVEN IN OFFICE.
...YET.
That said, I expect a final desperate push of bullshit before he takes office.

if you have video, you can drain the swamp

You can't just have it - you have to also use it. And he's not making those decisions on his own, and he doesn't control the CIA or DOJ.
