Of course he will. Look how many mothers kill their children, go with an insanity plea, go to a mental hospital for a few months, and get out with no charges on their record. This guy didn't hurt anybody and it was a "crime of passion." He's probably going to walk away with charges dropped on hitting the child and a big fat bank account.
