“Just listen for a minute, learn a little something. Elections and politicians are in place in order to give Americans the illusion that they have freedom of choice. You don’t really have choice in this country. Good honest hard-working people continue – these are people of modest means – continue to elect these rich cocksuckers who don’t give a fuck about you . . . they don’t give a fuck about you . . . they don’t give a FUCK about you. They don’t care about you at all . . . at all . . . AT ALL. The table has tilted, folks. The game is rigged and nobody seems to notice. Nobody seems to care. That’s what the owners count on. The fact that Americans will probably remain willfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that’s being jammed up their assholes everyday, because the owners of this country know the truth. It’s called the American Dream; because you have to be asleep to believe it.”

It’s called the American Dream; because you have to be asleep to believe it.

And yet George Carlin was living it. Probably worth millions. He was part of the 1%.

just because someone is successful, doesn't make them corrupt.

just because someone is successful, doesn't make them corrupt.

Never said he was. Just that he lived the dream and became successful.

Carlin got in deep shit with the IRS, which forced him to go back on the nightclub circuit. He never made the big $ b/c he never hit it big in film like other comedians.

His treatment from the IRS opened his eyes and massively informed his comedy.

Definitely not part of the 1% (elite).

His treatment from the IRS opened his eyes and massively informed his comedy.

"Because of my abuse of drugs, I neglected my business affairs and had large arrears with the IRS, and that took me 18 to 20 years to dig out of," he said. "I did it honorably, and I don't begrudge them. I don't hate paying taxes, and I'm not angry at anyone, because I was complicit in it. But I'll tell you what it did for me: It made me a way better comedian. Because I had to stay out on the road and I couldn't pursue that movie career, which would have gone nowhere, and I became a really good comic and a really good writer."

Definitely not part of the 1% (elite).

"I did something in a previous life that must have been spectacularly good, because I'm getting paid in this life just magnificently, more than one would dare imagine or hope for."

It actually doesn't take that much income to be part of the 1%. I checked, and it's around $450K per yer. Now the elite of the elite, that's a whole 'nother ballgame.
