Note, it was the FBI who tipped off the Norwegian police. The FBI is not so bad. Unlike the CIA, the FBI seems to still have some patriots working for the good of their fellow people. Give credit where credit is due.
Because of course, the potential for entrapment is far greater than the risk of encouraging some freaks on the fringes to actually dabble in kiddie diddling...
I can see from the point of view of the FBI, anyone who would be tempted by kiddie porn is a threat. So, bait them out and prosecute them. They deserve no sympathy. The FBI agents who have to coordinate these honey pots have to look into the eyes of the kid-porn. They have to sort the images and videos. I feel very sad for them, It must be very hard to do that job. Kill all pedophiles.
Anyone who would be tempted by drugs is a threat. So, bait them out and prosecute them. They deserve no sympathy. The FBI agents who have to coordinate these honey pots have to look into the eyes of drug-dealers. They have to sort the weed and meth. I feel very sad for them. It must be very hard to do that job. Kill all of the druggies.
This could be right out of the Philippines with how it dehumanizes a particular criminal. Either way, entrapment is wrong and this practice, especially working on the deep web, could be enabling more than helping to catch.
Nice try comparing drug abuse to hurting little babies. How did you even come up with an outrageous comparison? "Dehumanize the criminal" you're feeling sorry for the wrong person. A grown person who abuses little kids doesn't have an ounce of humanity. Take your bullshit sob story to Salon or other depraved liberal sites.
It's not about sympathizing with criminals, rather it is about avoiding a standard that can be used to destroy anyone with the mere accusation. If you think pedophiles are subhuman, then the mere accusation becomes a weapon and that is dangerous. Even for convicted pedophiles, labeling them subhuman would mean torture and other methods is okay, and at that point we become the monsters.

Sure, there really is a valid reason for the FBI to be running child-porn sites themselves...
