And the lady in the "special thanks" rescued a 3-year-old from drowning: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/mum-custody-suspicion-murdering-daughter-4057601

"Otherwise, Greenwood has been operating what she calls a “rogue restaurant” named Orange Arrow, which conducts private pop-up-style dinners in random places: church basements, art galleries, a rural Maryland farm. It’s just the sort of pseudo-secret supper club that has become one of the biggest trends in D.C. dining in recent years."

"Greenwood’s operation was among the first in the District to popularize the concept of creating a vibe of super-exclusivity by limiting the circle of people who even knew a chef was serving meals. Initially, Greenwood even tried to keep her own involvement a secret. In a 2010 Washington Post article on the underground dining trend, she is described only as “a James Beard award-nominated chef…who requested anonymity.”

"Greenwood, who declines to divulge her age, was the creative force behind the eponymous Greenwood restaurant, which during the mid-’90s through early ’00s, was a local haute cuisine favorite. The restaurant, originally located downtown, moved to Cleveland Park before eventually settling in Chevy Chase. In 2003, she changed the concept to comfort food, brought in a new partner, and renamed the place Buck’s. Five years later, Greenwood’s efforts earned her a nomination for Best Chef Mid-Atlantic at the prestigious Beard Awards."

My mom found Carole Greenwood. A fairly well-connected chef friend of ours says she won the award that she was nominated for, but that doesn't show up in these articles. He claims it's the most prestigious honor money can buy.

There was a post on GLP by somebody who said they knew Carole and she supposedly quit the business due to "personal reasons" when she walked in on Alefantis fucking her teenage son...this is all speculative but if this place is such a success to afford Alefantis all these other connections and money...why would Carole Greenwood walk away from it so suddenly and unexplained when she was half of the equation?

Whoa. I'd read about "family issues" in a WCP article. There is a comment from "Carole Fan" on this article admonishing the "culture" for how she was treated.

Edit: "Working with artists is always an intense experience and there is always two sides to every story. I happen to know Carole's side and it would make those dining on the new food choke and feel nauseous. I will only say that if they knew what really happened, they like me would no longer dine at either establishment."

Not seeing that comment on mine? Can you screen shot it? A partial corroboration of this, that far back, could be juicy.

Oh man, thats so brutal, think about how Alefantis said she left to persue a bunch of other stuff, but she says she left for urgent family issues....thank you, other people had said they scrubbed the comments having that (in 2009) is interesting to say the least
