I'm new here. When I tried to upvoat, there was a notification that I had reached the 10 per day. I guess you "earn" more voting ability when you post, post links, and your posts are upvoated. Not sure if there's a point when you no longer have a limit. Still learning and reading more than posting!
If my memory serves correctly (which it may be doing), new users get either 10 or 100 upvotes per day. I think once you hit the limit it'll give you the details. Try downvoting this comment and you'll probably be presented with the message that tells you all about it.
