History of the Comet Ping Pong sign (pizzagate)
submitted 8.4 years ago by greenlentils
For people deconstructing the symbolism of the Comet neon sign:
The sign has been around since the forties.
It originally belonged to Comet Liquor (originally Comet Liquors and Deli) at 1815 Columbia Road. Picture of its previous incarnation here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kinorama/5027930954
Comet Liquors was established by Oscar Gildenhorn in 1940. Washington Post obituary for Gildenhorn here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/local/1991/12/10/cecil-hobbs-dies/227dff7d-bc79-48a4-9cf0-b66ae9e30eb1/?utm_term=.f1302f455aec Oscar Gildenhorn "served on the board of directors and the admissions committee of the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington. He was a member of the Benjamin Franklin Masonic Lodge, the Amity Club and Adas Israel Congregation in Washington." Oscar's son, Joseph B. Gildenhorn, was the U.S. ambassador to Switzerland from 1989-1993.
So.... if there's nefarious symbolism behind the stars and crescents on the logo, it's old.

Quality research. It probably is masonic -- I think those masons like to put their symbols everywhere just as we like to post Pepes.
