a) They are rich and can effort just everything to stay healthy. There is really much you can do for your health if you have the money. And b) The placebo effect from doing this satanic stuff on top. You may laugh, but tipicall placebos have been proven to work very well already, but this kind of placebo is way more powerfull.

It's just the psychological effect of the strong feeling that you have paid a very high price (a human life) and thus deserve a high pay.
