Speaking of Prime Minister Mark Rutte, it may be worthwhile mentioning that he was member of the Leiden Student Society Minerva. The society has an owl in the logo, and there is an owl statue. More importantly, there are these three other members:

  • Joris Demmink, worked from 1982 to 2012 at the Ministry of Justice; from 2002 as Secretary-General.
  • Ivo Opstelten, from 2010 to 2015 Minister of Justice
  • Ard van der Steur, from 2015 Minister of Justice

From 2003 there have been allegations of child abuse by Demmink. This caused the Ministers of Justice hard times.

The Dutch Wikipedia page says: Demmink was often in the news because he was accused of criminal behavior. However, the state prosecutor did never find reason for prosecution.

The French Wikipedia page has: Joris Demmink was also at the center of a pedocriminal affair in the highest political spheres in the Netherlands. The case, however, never succeeded and the investigation continues to this day. In 2014 a criminal investigation is ordered by the court of Den Bosch

It seems that this investigation has been stopped in May 2016 since Turkey did not cooperate.

Until 2007 Demmink's house address was also listed in the communal "child care registry".

In 2012 members of the US Congress got interested in the Demmink affair.

In 2013 there was a resolution in the US House of Representatives: the Secretary of State should seek to amend Article 22 of the Statute of the International Court of Justice to move the seat of the Court from the Netherlands. (...) Whereas Joris Demmink, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Justice in the Netherlands from 2002 to 2012 and the Director General for International Affairs and Immigration in the Netherlands from 1993 to 2002, has been accused by Mr. Osman of rape in Edirne, Turkey, in or about 1997 when Mr. Osman was 14 years old; (...)

On this occasion the Dutch Government released an official statement.

Here is a long piece in English about the Demmink affair. I have no idea whether this is a reliable source though.
