I don't know but there is a logical disconnect in what is being said. Why would John be 'lending' mittens to Tamara about which Tamara says "Hope Mary gets to your mittens soon"

Dates and Tamara are important for further inquiry.

I assume because Tamara meets Mary several times before she meets John again. There is no clear indication if this is code or not.

At 8 Tamara informs John, at 10 John informs Mary. Two hours to forward an email is normal.
