This article is very long but has a lot of info. It talks about the tunnels and how the reopened part of the system stops short of CPP. I thought it was kind of weird that they chose a ping-pong ball inspired art installation for this project. https://steemit.com/personsofinterest/@ausbitbank/persons-of-interest-james-achilles-alefantis-aka-jimmycomet-at-comet-ping-pong

not ping pong ball inspired. That is disinformation. The balls were left over from a giant ball pit at the National Building Museum.
This is in Dupont circle, about 4 miles from CPP. Not "close" really. The tunnels don't reach more than a couple hundred meters.
This is their layout but it doesn't say how long. http://www.dupontunderground.org/wp-content/gallery/the-site_1/dupontunderground-fullsite.jpg
so if you compare this to a map (Google maps works fine), you can see that the tunnels follow Connecticut Ave in a northwest direction, but only as far as 20th st & R. This means that the tunnel ends 3.3. miles from Comet Ping Pong.
